How do I take the tea?

The effects will be stronger when consumed on an empty stomach yet the detoxification symptoms may also be stronger. It is suggested that, when first trying the tea, start by drinking it with food. As you become more familiar with its effects on your body, you can drink away from food and increase the strength of the effects.

• Shake well before drinking. Any sediment on the bottom of the container should be consumed.

• Do not microwave!

• To heat the tea, do not boil. Simply warm on the stove top until it has reached the desired temperature. It can be consumed hot or cold.

•  With Food or Without Food – When herbs are consumed away from food they generally have a more immediate impact on the body. Additionally, some herbal traditions suggest that the effects of the herbs are strengthened. The potential challenge with taking herbs on an empty stomach is that for some individuals, this can be harder on the digestive system. When herbs are taken with a meal or small snack, the effects of the herbal supplement is softer and more gradual.

•  Persons with organ transplants should not use this product.

• This tea is most effectively used when it is consumed undiluted. You can drink water before and after.

• In addition to drinking this tea, it can be applied topically on the skin. It can either be applied with a cotton swab or saturated in a cloth and applied as a poultice for 15 minutes at a time. Do not apply to open wounds unless otherwise advised by a qualified health care practitioner.

What do I do if there is a physical response that I do not understand?

Any herbal product that is formulated to promote detoxification of the body can be associated with a variety of physical functions. This is generally a good phenomena.  Detoxification can occur through areas such as the skin, the urinary bladder, intestines, menstrual fluid, mucus membranes in the sinuses. When the body is releasing substances, there can be an increase in excretions. It is important to drink plenty of water, eat soups, vegetables and to get as much rest as possible. These responses can last between one day, one month and even longer depending upon the state of the body’s health, the diet, and many other factors. The herbs in this formula were historically used for a wide variety of health complaints and therefore the response to the tea will completely vary from individual to individual. In our experience, the majority of individuals are quite able to take recommended dosage described in the “How Do I Take the Tea?” section of this website.

For challenges, try the following approaches:

Reduce the dose until the initial detoxification response has subsided. When you feel like it, slowly increase the dosage.

Increase the dosage more slowly. In other words, take more days between increasing the dosage.

Reduce the amount you take per dose. For example, take 4 ounces instead of 8 ounces, with each dose. Slowly increase until you reach the desired dose.

Remember that the maximum and minimum dosages may vary from person to person. For example, a very petite individual may need less tea. A very large person may require more than the maximum dosage. Listen to your body.

Consult with a qualified physician.

How do I store the tea and what is the shelf life?

This product has a long shelf life when properly refrigerated. The shelf life is approximately 5 months. Read the hand written date on the label to determine the expiration date. This product must be refrigerated. Before drinking a dose, that amount can be left out to bring the tea to room temperature.

What if I take medication, can I still drink this tea?

With all natural supplements, please consult your health care practitioner to determine whether this product is safe for your condition and is appropriate for you to combine with other pharmaceuticals and supplements that you may be taking.

Should I follow any special dietary recommendations while drinking the tea?

Diet is an integral part of any health care regime. We recommend that this be an area of consideration in order to maximize the effects of the tea. Included are a few general recommendations that can be followed.

  • Avoid refined sugar
  • Do your best to eat whole foods that have been unprocessed
  • As much as possible, consume products that have the least amount of chemicals and are in their most natural form.
  • As much as possible, consume products that are not genetically modified.

Can the tea be drunk cold?

According to Chinese Medical Philosophy, cold foods and beverages should be avoided. It is taught that cold substances weaken the digestive system. This can be especially true when a person has a serious health condition and immune weakness. For this reason, it is recommended that this tea be consumed at room temperature.
